This month SPK granted a Douglasville single working mom in default on her mortgage payments and at risk of losing her home. Her daughter Angel was born with Schizencephaly, a rare congenital brain malformation that impairs her speech, mobility and development. It is a form of Cerebral Palsy. She has fluid on her brain and her left side is paralyzed. This mom of three is financially back on her feet with a Precious Families grant which covered her lapsed and current mortgage payments of nearly $2,000 and has put her back on track.
“I didn’t know where to turn, I was so scared we would find ourselves with no roof over our heads, in spite of my doing all the right things—working and trying to budget well. With car repairs and other curveballs, we had a rough patch of not being able to make ends meet,” stated Quin McIntire , Angel’s mom. “Skye Precious Kids stepped in and worked with our mortgage company and saved the day. We are forever grateful.”
Delta Dental Foundation, in awarding a grant of $5,000, has already made a difference in the future for this family and the grant will continue to aid others. We are unbelievably grateful for their support. Their investment is also helping us gain visibility in the community and make sure families in need are aware of SPK and our programs”.
